I got this stump grinder and was unsure of how well it would work with my small tractor. I’m using a JD 755 with about 15hp to the PTO, so definitely on the low end but it makes quick work of the softwood trees we have in the area. I think it would struggle a bit more on hardwoods. I could definitely use more power at times, but you just take smaller bites and it works great. I took out several 20-22” pine stumps and chased all the roots. My only complaint is when torquing the teeth, I find it difficult to not rotate the disc while I am using the torque wrench on a tooth. I wish there was a lockout bar much like they have for the flywheel in woodland mills chippers. Would also be nice if the steel shroud came a bit closer to the main bearing as it can be difficult to get my torque wrench on the inside teeth. Other than that works great and happy with my purchase!

I've had this Grinder for 3 months now. I will start with customer service these Girls are awesome to work with very knowledgeable and made ordering super easy. That was a bit challenging because the tractor had to drive over the stump and the height changed as tires went over top, but it handled it! Just took some time. My tractor is 20 hp at the pto and it does bog down a little bit at times, but it’s usually just because I was taking too big of a bite. Very happy with it overall, and the quality seems great. Only gripe would be that the carbide cutting teeth are not reversible, and their cost is a little high.

I have a heavily wooded lot, and over the years, I’ve had to remove a number of trees, both large and small, and it had become prohibitively expensive to hire a tree company AND a stump grinding company (or paying one company for both) every time I needed a tree or group of small trees removed. In one case, I had a large oak removed and ground up, but graded the area a bit only to find about. 5-foot diameter circle of oak stump and large roots just below the surface. I had been eyeing one of these for years and finally saved up enough and went for it after discussing it with another owner who runs it on the same model tractor I use (John Deere 1025R). I have been blown away by how tough and efficient this machine is. I found a magnetically-mounted wireless backup camera with a hard-wired suction-cup mounted screen that holds fast to the inside wall of the grinding wheel and stays steady enough to give a clear view of exactly where I will be grinding when I lower the stump grinder into position and pull it slowly forward. It makes me stay right on target every time with no need to struggle to turn backwards and see through everything or to have a spotter trying to guide the operator into the right position. It leads to perfect positioning every time with no guesswork. This has long since paid for itself in the amount of nicely ground-up stumps of all types and sizes throughout my property and my only regret at all is not buying one sooner. It’s very tough, robust, well-built, and even includes a nice slip clutch and grease zerks. One note: you will need a small 90-degree grease coupler to reach one of the grease fittings, but otherwise it’s easy to set up, use, and maintain.

This is a great piece of equipment! Have used on a variety of different size stumps and different trees from hardwoods and softwoods. It’s met the challenges I have thrown at it. I’m operating on a 20hp PTO tractor and was concerned it would take too long, but I’ve been impressed. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes an easy task. My only recommendation would be to change the protective flap to a rubber or other flexible compound. I’ve found it can get caught on the unground portion of larger stumps so you have to traverse larger stumps a few times to get them cut down. Customer service has been fantastic as well. Can get close to objects as seen in before/after picture of a locust stump next to existing structure. Have a New Holland T1530 with a quick hitch which has more than enough power. Doesn't mind if small rocks get in the way after 20ish stumps and lots of little rocks I've only chipped one insert. Works great for trenching shallow holes as well. It will pulverize soil better than a tiller. I would recommend checking the torque of the carbide teeth ofter, as after 20+ stumps and clearing roots with it I did loose 1 tooth.
